600 Years of Solidarity and Shared Values
The Monte de Piedad of Fundación Montemadrid is the oldest non-profit institution in Spain. It remains true to its founding spirit: providing credit to people with specific financial needs at a minimum interest rate through the pawning and auctioning of jewellery.
Today, elMONTE of Fundación Montemadrid encompasses the Montes de Piedad of Madrid, Móstoles, Granada, Córdoba, Alicante and Palma. All retain the same vocation of social service with which they were created, and boast over 600 years of experience in jewellery valuation.
elMONTE dedicates all its profits to Fundación Montemadrid, a private organisation active in the fields of culture, solidarity, the environment and education. It operates sociocultural centres such as La Casa Encendida and Casa San Cristóbal in Madrid, as well as nurseries and schools, spaces for the elderly, libraries, and employment and job centres.
